I gave birth to my 3rd child in 3 years 6 months ago. I had gained about 75 or 80 pounds. I was in the best shape of my life when I got pregnant but somehow I always end up growing my kids mansions to live in when I'm pregnant. I'm okay with that. I would much rather have a healthy happy baby and gain a ton of weight then be sick or stressed and underweight.
Anyhow, because I was in such amazing shape when I got pregnant it was really hard to watch my body gain all those extra pounds so fast. Once I gave birth I definitely didn't feel very good physically. I was tired, heavy, bogged down, uncomfortable in my own skin.
I started eating a clean diet only about a month after Tosh was born and I started exercising daily almost right away. I did this for 2 or 3 months and got NO RESULTS!
Honestly, I worked really, really hard and seemed to only loose and gain the same 10 pounds like 5 times. It was SOOOOOO frustrating!!!! I even did a 2 week juice fast and still hardly lost anything!!!
But, as someone who has now had to recover from childbirth 3 times and had to loose over 100 pounds after the first 2 I KNEW that if I just stayed consistent it would eventually pay off. In all reality weight loss is a very simple math equation and at the end of the day if your calories burned are higher than the calories you took in YOU.WILL.LOOSE.WEIGHT!
So after 6 months I am FINALLY on the fast track to loosing this weight!!!!! I've lost 18 pounds in the past 6 weeks alone and I'm not doing anything different with my diet and I'm not exercising all that much! I tried to start running again but ended up throwing my back out so badly that I couldn't walk for a few days so I now know that I am just too heavy to run right now. I need to focus in the kitchen and get this weight off before I start the vigorous exercise.
My point is BE PATIENT and DON'T GIVE UP!!! Just because you are not seeing immediate results does not mean it's not working. Your body just isn't ready to let go of the weight! After giving birth our hormones are completely out of whack and if you are breastfeeding that adds a whole other layer of complicated. Your body may want to hang on to that extra weight for a while. It;s normal. It will come off eventually so don't give up!
This newest chapter in my weight loss journey has just begun. I still have about 40 or 50 pounds to loose to be back where I was before I got pregnant but I now know I can do this. I got this and I will stay committed until I reach my goal and you can too!
Also, I just wanted to mention that I was diagnosed with Hypothyroid about 3.5 years ago when I was pregnant with Milton. Since following a Paleo lifestyle I have completely normalized my condition and no longer meed medication. Not to mention I have lost weight, my skin is glowing, my depression and anxiety are nearly gone and I have so much energy. If you are someone who is struggling with diabetes, thyroid problems, depression, anxiety or obesity you might want to consider changing what you eat. The ability to heal yourself with food is totally attainable and within your reach. And I feel amazing!!!! No gluten, no grains, no sugar, no diary and very minimal processed foods.
